Hochkönig Ski Region

How Big?

The Hochkönig ski region covers just over 150 kilometres of the freshest well groomed slopes. From wide beginners blues that wind their way down the mountains from top to bottom, challenging reds to bring a smile to your face and put the wind through your hair and unbelievable black runs  to challenge your ability and keep the thighs burning, Maria Alm has it all. The ski area starts in the West at Maria Alm covering a huge distance through four quaint villages the routes stretch all the way to Mühlbach in the East. Modern fast lifts and powder covered tree lined slopes provide everything a skier or snowboarder could ever want.

With relatively empty slopes and no lift queues Maria Alm is a dream resort for all, what are you waiting for?

How Many Lifts, Runs, Parks etc?

Maria Alm itself is served by 3 lifts, here you will find the world's first 'Chondola', a chairlift/gondola perfect for beginners and children the fastest way to the top of Natrun. This interlinks down into the valley to the Aberg-Langeck ski area on the other side, offering a huge variety of pistes suitable for all abilities. The gentle blue runs from the middle station of Abergbahn allow beginners to ease themselves into their ski experience. Bold tree lined runs from the summit at 2000m are designed to provide the right amount of exhilaration for advanced skiers. Intermediates have a massive choice of cruising reds, ski tours and glorious long runs throughout the Ski Circuit. There are also 5 world class snow parks for the more adventurous and exciting ski routes, which provide sign posted off piste areas which are safe to explore. From here you can spend a whole day making your way to Mühlbach and back again. The design and nature of this beautiful region means you can ski for a whole day without having to ski the same piste twice!

Night skiing happens in Maria Alm 3 times a week, usually on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The T-bar lift is open and floodlit on the Natrun hill running from 6pm until 9:30pm. It's the perfect oportunity to attempt some of the Alpine Demo Team's moves as they are usually practising here; or simply if you want to squeeze in as much skiing as possible during your stay. Night skiing and snowboarding is now free.
