Resting among the pristine rolling pastures at the bottom of the soaring Steinernes meer and the Hochkönig mountains lies the picturesque resort of Maria Alm. At a height of 812 meters this snowy village is a sight to behold as you enter the valley in the comfort of our transfer vehicles. The unique village is one of the prettiest in Austria, and certainly the prettiest ski resort you will have ever visited. Half timber traditional buildings, cobbled streets, and two winding rivers flow through the village to meet here creating a picture postcard scene.

"I have skied around the world and I can say that Maria Alm is one of my favorite places. The village is traditional and clean, food is good, prices are reasonable, no queues at the lifts, friendly people, good apres-ski, and great skiing. One of the best kept secret ski resorts in Europe"

James Coles

The Hochkönig Resort

Standing proud in the centre of Maria Alm is the Pilgrimage church, the highest in the Salzburg region and no matter where you are in the valley you’ll be sure to see its incredible 76 Meter steeple!

In and around Maria Alm there are approximately 35 bars and restaurants, something to suit all tastes. Make sure you try some of the local dishes, they’re an absolute must after a hard day on the slopes. There are three nightclub bars and plenty of places for a good night out.

Maria Alm takes pride of place at the head of one end of the Hochkonig valley. Maria Alm is one of five resort villages that make up the Hochkönig region, when connected together this ski area gives you over 150 Km of exciting wide and relatively empty Pistès. Transfer times to Maria Alm are under an hour from Salzburg airport, not only does this make the journey a breeze you can spend a full day snowboarding or skiing on the day you arrive and depart.

Despite Maria Alm’s enormous Skiing area, perfectly conditioned slopes and record breaking snow falls, the Hochkönig region of Austria is still largely unknown to British winter holiday makers. Once you have discovered Maria Alm with its quiet Pistès, old world charm, incredibly friendly atmosphere, world class skiing, excellent Après Ski and no queuing for lifts you won’t want to holiday anywhere else.
